Tips For Writing Your Toast

What makes a well composed toast?

When you use the toast as an opportunity to publicly bear witness to the romantic suitability of the couple, to their good character and appeal, as individuals and together.

When you tell the story of the bride and groom from your personal perspective.

When you include five relevant points of information:

I. Tell us who you are in relationship to the couple.
II. Paint a picture of the person you represent.
III. Paint a picture of their intended.
IV. Tell us why they are a well matched couple.
V. Conclude with a blessing or wish that emanates from the theme/s already touched upon in the toast.

The content of your toast should be balanced between your feelings for and factual information about the wedding couple.

You should link the passages of your toast cohesively, building to a point.

If you want to express something that is not your usual way of speaking, consider using literary, musical, or poetic references and quotations.
